Welcome to Honestly Hungry – a celebration of home cooking and food. My name is Alyssa. I’m extraordinarily average healthy-ish chick. I eat cookies and kale and pizza and fruit. If the mood strikes me, I’m likely to eat a spoonful of peanut butter. No extreme fad diets or unhealthy food restriction here. I like to sweat but I also like a good Netflix binge every now and again.
I’m on a journey to find balance in regards to food, health, and fitness. Aren’t we all? And I want you to join me! I don’t want to be a fitness model, nor do I want to cook professionally. I just want to find a healthy balance between my love for cooking and my active lifestyle. I’m just a home cook – making good, simple food – who really likes trying new protein bars flavors and pretending that I’m an adult.
I have a B.A. and M.A. in Professional and Technical Writing. Still, I think words are hard. I would much rather type them than speak them. I am admittedly awkward, but it is part of my charm. I have a handsome husband and two precious fur babies – Silvio and Paulie. They enjoy eating human food just as much as humans, much to my annoyance.
In my spare time I exercise, read, nap, write recipes, and cook. I “collect” cookbooks – an unwieldly and sometimes expensive hobby. My favorite places to find cookbooks are flea markets and used book stores. The cookbooks there are always filled with decades-old handwritten notes and comments.
